Coverage & protection

Every JR Boating trip is protected by several layers — a signed liability waiver, a refundable damage deposit, optional per-trip protection you can add at checkout, and the commercial marine policy our fleet operates under. Here’s how each one works.

Signed liability waiver

Before every trip, the lead guest signs a liability release and assumption-of-risk waiver — a boat waiver, a jet-ski waiver, or a captained-charter passenger waiver, depending on your trip. We keep a permanent signed record for both sides.

Refundable damage deposit

A refundable security deposit is held against damage beyond normal wear. It’s an authorization, not a charge — released after a clean, on-time return. The amount is shown on each boat before you book.

Optional per-trip protection

At checkout you can add per-trip protection that reduces your out-of-pocket responsibility for accidental damage. It’s optional and priced per trip — the exact terms are shown when you add it.

Commercial marine policy on the fleet

JR Boating’s vessels are maintained and inspected before every trip and operated under a commercial marine policy. Coverage limits and what’s included are confirmed with our team — reach out any time with questions about a specific boat or trip.

What renters should know

  • Your personal boat or homeowner’s insurance generally does NOT cover you operating a rental boat — you don’t need to provide your own policy for a standard rental.
  • Operate safely and sober: boating while intoxicated is illegal in Texas and voids your protection.
  • Damage from negligent, prohibited, or illegal use is your responsibility and is not covered.
  • Add a licensed captain (or book a captained experience) and you’re a passenger — we handle the operation.

This page summarizes how protection works for a typical rental and isn’t a substitute for the policy terms or your signed waiver. Questions about coverage for a specific trip? Message our team before you book.
